Saying Goodbye to our 2018 Season
Michigan Wedding Planners
As we near the New Year, we can’t help but reflect on all of the wonderful things that happened in 2018. It was a year full of beautiful floral, amazing clients and a fresh new look for our brand! Each of our 25 weddings was a true testament of the couple and we are grateful we were able to play a role in their big day. We are so very thankful for each and every one of our couples who joined our family for their 2018 wedding. Below is a peek at what we were up to this year.
Each of these beautiful weddings including the talented vendors that helped make these events happen, can be found in full over on our blog and linked below! We could not have done our job without the help of a larger team of vendors and we are forever grateful for them!
We kicked off our season in January with Kathy and Simon at the beautiful Bay Harbor Yacht Club. We were honored to work alongside the best vendors of Northern Michigan as we planned and designed their day! The big day was captured by The Compass Points Here.
On the business side of things, 2018 started off with a complete facelift for the team. We worked with the talented With Grace and Gold for our re-brand that launched in March. Well, we actually like to just call it a brand, because we finally feel like we have an identity after 6 whole years! We are thankful for this direction ELD has taken and it has led us to some new venues and fresh designs for our 2019 couples. You can read all about the heart behind our brand here!
Continuing with our pre-season prep and refresh for all things ELD, Alyse and Lynette attended a 1-on-1 workshop with Rhiannon Bosse. We are so thankful to be able to learn from an industry leader. After two days of learning from Rhi and soaking up her knowledge we were ready to tackle the 2018 season head on. Our workshop was captured by Kelly Sweet Photography.
April also brought us three new ELD team members and a brand new studio space! We enjoyed many bagels, donuts, and coffee here during our monthly team meetings!
The month of May brought three weddings! We kicked off the month with Planning, Design & Floral for Victoria and Dillon at Blissful Barn on May 6th.
The weekend of May 26th brought our team two weddings, with the first being Floral Design services for Diana and Alex at Black Barn Vineyard and Winery.
Our second wedding of the weekend included Planning, Design & Floral for Lisha and James at their intimate backyard wedding hosted at Hop and Vine Inn with photos by Samantha James Photography. This couple got married on Memorial Day Weekend, and it was memorable for everyone in more ways than one. This particular weekend was a scorcher with 90 degree weather! This was almost 20 degrees over the historical average. The only viable explanation is that their love was burning up the place!
Summer arrived with one of our busiest months that included 6 weddings! We provided coordination services for Emily and Evan at The Felt Mansion on June 2nd, and Danielle and Eli hosted their blush and greenery wedding on June 9th at Waldenwoods Resort.
June 16th was one for the books for our small but mighty team. We had teams in THREE locations for three beautiful weddings. To start, we provided Floral Design services for Jordan and Billy in Battle Creek at Southern Exposure Herb Farm.
A team was also celebrating with Veronica and Daniel for Coordination services at Packard Proving Grounds captured by the lovely, Beth Joy Photography. Can you believe the Bride handled all of the floral herself? Stunning! This wedding was a party from start to finish – with their Bridal Party being one big group of 22 best friends, a Kegerator made by the Groom + Groomsmen, a 77VW PhotoBooth Bus, and a sparkler exit.
… And last but not least, we provided Full Service Planning and Design with Floral for Amanda and Aaron at Camp Pendalouan for their wedding in the woods! This organic and natural day was captured by Heather Jowett. Their hobbies include; dirt bikes, hiking, camping, being sarcastic, gardening and saving dogs; so it was of no surprise when we found the perfect venue for these two with the wedding being held at a YMCA camp. A place where they were able to include their pup (who also had on a Go-Pro and a tutu) and allow their friends and family to enjoy activities they love!
July was unique in that it brought us a month full of Brides with names starting with E’s! Good thing they were all so different so we could keep their weddings apart. We started the month off with Emmy and Gavin at Felt Mansion in Holland for Coordination services. Autumn Silva Photography captured this day perfectly! Emmy is a fashion designer, who proved her undeniable talent by designing her gorgeous Wedding. Every Little Detail was thought through with her eye for design.
Emily and Abigail followed with their beautiful horse farm private estate wedding. We provided Planning, Design and Floral services for these two stunning ladies. Samantha James Photography truly captured the love felt on this warm and sunny day. The ceremony was in front of a dynamic Weeping Willow tree, the most gorgeous backdrop. Also, if you can believe it, we were pretty much the only location in the area that didn’t catch any rain that day. Talk about lucky in love!
We ended the month with Emma and Andrew for Planning and Design with Floral at The Blue Dress Barn. We brought L.A. to Southwest Michigan in this Kennedy Compound Inspired wedding! They both grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, but did not know each other. They both ended up moving to Los Angeles, California and met there! Just to realize they lived not too far from each other their whole childhood. These two both work in the entertainment industry at TV networks in L.A. Samuel Marz captured this day!
The first weekend of August took us North to Stafford’s Perry Hotel in Petoskey for Julie and Joe. We spent two years planning and designing with these two love birds for their lakeside day! The Weber Photography captured this picture perfect day. In Julie and Joe’s spare time, they love to be active, outside and near the water. Thus, it was only fitting to have their wedding in the summer in beautiful Northern Michigan! This Lakeside location provided such a naturally perfect backdrop for this wedding day.
We have just two weddings left for the month of August to show you! The next one is the Floral Design that we provided for Alyson and Evan at The Barn at Monterey Valley. Their beautiful white and dusty blue wedding was captured by Meghan Hannon.
As half of our team was busy flowering for Alyson and Evan, the other half spent the day with Maria and Alex curating their beautiful day! We began working with these two for Planning and Design almost 11 months prior. This stunning day was photographed by Benjamin David Photography! This wedding had a meaningful theme in the Ballroom. At the start of their relationship, Alex sent Maria a picture of a song he heard that reminded him of her: “Honey Bee” by Blake Shelton. Her friend saw this text and said “That means he loves you!” Just a few days later, they exchanged those 3 words for the first time and decided that was their song. From then on, Alex would call Maria his “Honey Bee.” Since this song holds a very special place in their hearts, we of course had to incorporate that into the design.
As quickly as September came, it was another one of our busiest months that included 6 weddings! We dodged tornadoes while we coordinated for Kristen and Conner at The Gull Lake Country Club. Nothing like having to evacuate all of the wedding guests during the middle of dinner! Kristen and Conner handled the situation with grace and it was definitely a day to remember!
We provided floral design for Casey and Justin during their private estate Lakeside Wedding captured by Jillian Bowes Photography. We worked alongside the lovely, 1928 Planning Company as they designed and planned this stunning day.
September 8th brought us to the Grand Rapids Art Museum for Coordination Services for the lovely, Melanie and Matt. They, alongside Dawn Owen Designs designed their bright, modern wedding day captured by One Night Cereus Photography. The combination of the Black Tie Dress Code, colorful floral, and the modern design was a dream! It definitely was one of our all-time favorites.
After a two-week break, we traveled up to Lake Leelanau on September 22nd for Kristen and Lee as we coordinated their wedding at Starry Night Barn. This was another couple that grew up in Michigan, but didn’t meet until they both lived in California! Once there, they came across one another on a dating app and the rest was history!
Our busy September ended with Coordination & Design for Jessica and Randy at Post Family Farm. As well as Megan and Spencer for Coordination, Design & Floral services at Gable Hill with photos from Justine Montigny. These two have known each other since the 6th grade and are Middle School Sweethearts! They started dating in 8th grade and have been together ever since. These two were a dream to work with!
October, November and December
With just one wedding in October, we kicked off the month with Sarah and Brad for Floral Design. We spent the majority of October diving into our amazing 2019 couples as we began all of their wedding design plans.
November took us to Castle Farms in Charlevoix for Stephanie and Greg’s wedding! We began working with these two in February for Planning, Design and Floral.
While we were prepping for our last 2018 wedding of the year as well as the holidays, December started with us hosting our 3rd Annual Holiday Wreath Workshop at The Stables in East Tawas with 30 ladies! It was so fun watching these ladies get creative with their wreaths and see how each of them created their own unique design. We also had TWO of our 2019 Brides in attendance that day!
Last but certainly not least, our sensational season ended on December 15th with Jennifer and Thomas as we coordinated their East Lansing wedding at The Eagle Eye Golf Club. With 356 guests in attendance, it was our largest wedding in 5 years!
In High School, Lynette spent 3 years working for their family business and could not have been more honored to be able to send Jennifer down the aisle. The love these two share is unlike anything else! It was the perfect way to say goodbye to 2018.
It is safe to say 2018 was our busiest and most rewarding year to date. We will be eagerly awaiting to see just how 2019 will unfold and looking forward to sharing the year with you!
